I can't believe that after only three months of living in NYC, I am able to say that I have experienced New York Fashion Week first hand. Working for a PR & consulting firm that handles planning and executing a few NYFW runway shows, I was able to work and attend two SS18 fashion shows: Vivienne Tam & Chocheng. The former occurred on Sunday, September 10th at noon, and it was amazing. Decked out with celebs and recognizable industry professionals, the VT show showcased a collection inspired by China's largest grossing, blockbuster film Monster Hunt, and served as a collaboration and promotion for the film's sequel. The collection featured landscape motifs from the film, such as waterfalls and mountainous patterns and colors. Amazing, flowing silhouettes moved down the runway, and some pieces even featured the film's little monster: Wuba. The collection was absolutely gorgeous, and I am so happy to have witnessed its debut first hand!
All that aside, I couldn't believe I was there, at a NYFW show, opening day, talking with celebs and networking with their PR & management teams. I couldn't believe I was talking with the designer herself during the week leading up to the show. I couldn't believe I was part of the team that made that show happen, and run smoothly.
