Everybody knows about the more controversial outerwear piece that made its way back to the runway this season: the puffer coat. In variations of knee-length or cropped, sleek or marshmallow-like, the puffer coat (or jacket) comes in all shapes and sizes, as well as colors. As a long-time refuser of anything practical when it comes to clothing, I've always steered clear of this kind of piece.
But this year, the artstry and experimental versions of the trend caught my eye. I first became obsessed with Balenciaga's red take on the trend when scrolling though London Fashion Week street style photos on Refinery29's site, and I saw this image. I mean, how cute is she? And for some reason this totally impractical combo works for me! After this, I had to have one. Still, my impractical-fashion self couldn't bring myself to spend the money ZARA's version until it went on sale in February. Who cares, all that matters is that I have it now, and I wear it ALL THE TIME.
Here I've decided to wear it casually, with an H&M catsuit underneath, and a simple pair of white Nike sneakers.
